Hi, I'm Ijaas.

I’m a Ph.D student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the The Ohio State University, developing radiation tolerant wide bandgap and ultra wide bandgap semiconductor devices.

Academics

Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering @ The Ohio State University, United States

Aug 2024 - Today

I joined OSU in Autumn of 2024 with a Graduate fellowship from College of Engineering. Later I joined Dr.Siddharth Rajan’s group for as a PhD student, working on design and processing of AlGaN/GaN high electron mobilty transistors (HEMT) and polarization doped field effect trasistor (PolFETs) for single event testing.

M.Sc in Photonics Engineering @ Ghent University, Belgium

September 2022 - July 2024

I joined UGENT for a second master’s degree to shift my interest towards semiconductor device physics and optoelectronics. With Photonics Reseatch group at UGENT (associate lab of IMEC), I worked on design and processing of optical isolator free heterogeneosuly integrated InP on Si DBR laser diodes.

B.S - M.S (Dual Degree) in Physics @ Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, India

August 2017 - June 2022

M.S thesis on Third order non-linear optical response of Rhenium Disulfide and Rhenium Diselenide 2D semiconductors and its alloys.

Experience

Research Intern

July 2023 - Sept 2023

Investigation of optical properties of top-down fabricated InGaN nanowires (NW) from layers grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), using Spectroscopic ellipsometry, micro photoluminescence (µ-PL), reflectance-transmittance measurements. Numerical simulations using Lumerical FDTD & FDE to predict the absorptance and supported guided and resonant leaky modes in the GaAs NWs and InGaN NWs.

Undergraduate summer intern

June 2021- August 2021

Optical simulations of different textured & planar anti-reflective coatings in c-Si solar cells to study the light trapping effect using Transfer matrix method (TMM) and Rigourous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) with RayFlare package and electrical modeling for I-V characteristics using SOLCORE package in Python (Remotely due to covid restrictions)

Visiting student researcher

June 2019- August 2019, & Dec 2019

Fabrication of inkjet printed ferroelectric field effect transistor (FeFET), followed by electrical characterization. Synthesised and optimized the Ag, Cu2O, PVDF-TrFE, CSPE, In2O3 inks for printing

Undergraduate summer intern

June 2018- August 2018

Optimising the deposition of p-type Cu2O thin films by RF-Magnetron sputtering. Fabrication and I-V characterization of p-type oxide Thin film transistors(TFT).
